Ian grew up listening to everything from The Ohio Players to Sergeant Pepper; Herbie Hancock to Earth Wind & Fire. But it wasn’t until high school that he was introduced to the bass. After receiving a scholarship to Miami University he was immersed in classical and jazz music. In 2006 Ian studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, where he worked with local and international acts. After returning to the U.S. to complete his Bachelor’s degree, he moved to NYC in 2009. He has played in venues throughout the Americas, Europe and Africa, collaborating with names such as Barius Brubeck, the Roots, Steve Wilson, and Puerto Rican Power.
