James_Bio18 year old Houston native pianist James Francies is considered one of the premiere pianists of his generation. Studying piano since the age of four, James has played alongside several jazz greats and has won many awards recognizing his playing, compositions and arrangements.

James has played with  artists such as Bobby Watson,  Albert “Tootie” Heath, Arturo Sandoval, Antonio Hart, Julian Lage, Joel Frahm,  Terrell Stafford,  and  Mike Moreno just to name a few. He has played at world-renowned venues and festivals that include The Jazz Standard, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Kennedy Center,  Berklee Performance Center, The Montreal Jazz Festival and numerous other places.

James’ sound and musical sense can be described as fiery, natural, and original. Equipped with astonishing technique, perfect pitch, and synesthesia, James’ musical imagination is neverending. Pianist Taylor Eigsti said that James “is poised to become a major voice on the instrument. He has the passion, creativity and ability to be a real leader amongst his generation. Watch out for him.”
